Sprinklers put out fires in an area of 7x7. They also require a water source. They do not replace calling the emergency services to extinguish the fire, they do however slow the fire spread until emergency units arrive.
It is recommended to use Drains along with sprinklers to get rid of any excess water they have produced, and it is advised to place one sprinkler every 3 or so tiles in critical areas.

Fires will start when water touches electrical equipment, so it is wise to deploy sprinklers into rooms that have both water and electrical equipment, such as laundry rooms and kitchens and power station room.
Prisoners can also start fires with lighters, so it can be a good idea to place sprinklers in maximum security areas and cells, as maximum security prisoners are more volatile and likely to start the fire by being upset by a lockdown or punishment.
Tips[]
- If the power plant goes offline or is destroyed, the water pump station will stop the supply of water to sprinklers shortly after.
